Liliya Roberts grew up in the vicinity of Shaktinsik, Kazakhstan and has a BA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. She has been married to David since 2004.

Liliya provided the voices for all the female characters in the first episode.

Ricky is a rough and tough redneck from Kansas. He drives a massive pickup truck but is too lazy to help anyone move or set foot on a farm. Ricky’s “rootin-tootin” exterior is in contrast to his comfortable middle class upbringing in Johnson County to union member/public school teacher parents.

Despite his fairly liberal upbringing, Ricky started listening to right wing talk radio and adopted his present persona as an act of rebellion against his progressively minded family.

Ricky is very smart and ambitious while being uninhibited by such distractions as morals.

Dan is a liberal minded college student. Growing up in a small rural community in Wisconsin, his father owned the local grocery store and provided a comfortable life.

Despite his upbringing by small business owners, Dan does not believe much in Laissez-faire economics but is a strong believer in the need for social justice and effective government regulations. He is a consistent critic of Ricky’s plots. He can be convinced to participate under the right circumstances..

Dan is smart and cynical but can be deceived by his over developed sense of empathy.

Paul is tall. Too tall actually. Paul enjoys the easy life and not taking things too seriously. He’s a diehard ultimate Frisbee fan.

Women are easily drawn to Paul due to his height, good looks and calm demeanor. They rarely stay for long since a committed relationship might bring him unwanted stress. Paul’s parents are the wealthy owners of a very successful potato farm in Washington on the border with Idaho.

The only way to make Paul lose his cool is to suggest that Idaho potatoes are better than Washington’s.

Jesse was born in Almaty, Kazakhstan to a Jewish father and Kazakh mother. Her family immigrated to America In 1989 after the U.S. Congress passed the Lautenberg Amendment classifying Soviet Jews and certain other religious communities as persecuted groups.

Jesse learned English as a second language and still has a hint of a Russian accent. Her parents did well for themselves after arriving in America and own the house where the roommates live.

She’s very proud of her heritage, although she has taken to just calling herself Russian due to the effect “Borat” has had on the perception of people from Kazakhstan.

Matt is the genius of the bunch. Matt easily hacks into voting machines, cures cancer, and creates sophisticated technological devices usually when his friends’ plans call for it. He’s more concerned with making and designing his creations, than with what purpose they will be used. Matt’s family grew up dirt poor in Oklahoma, living paycheck to paycheck, but providing a stable childhood for theirchildren. There were times his family was on welfare.

Due to this impoverished background there is a lot of pressure on Matt to become wealthy quickly in order to rescue his family from their dire economic situation.

Sadly, his inventions, frequently co-opted and stolen by others, have yet to lead to any significant level of financial gain.
